We see care as more than a job; it’s a calling, and we nurture our team so they can give their very best. By working hand-in-hand with families, friends, and our local Bristol community, Open Hearts is here to make every day a little brighter for those we support.

Our Staff

Our staff all bring personal or professional experience in the care industry and undergo client-specific training programs. The company is led by Alannah Meechan, an award-winning care professional and Registered Care Home Manager of the Year winner, who has worked her way from care assistant to management and now leads this company to create a vision for compassionate, community-focused care.

How We Operate

Open Hearts Homecare Ltd is a company that operates within Bristol, with deep ties to the local community. Our team consists exclusively of staff with personal or professional care experience who undertake specific training tailored to each client’s needs. We are proud to be a Living Wage Employer, committed to paying all staff a fair wage above the government minimum, reflecting the value we place on their vital work. In addition, we ensure that all staff receive paid travel time between client visits, supporting their well-being and recognising the demands of the care role in today’s society.

The Owner and Manager

Alannah Meechan

I’m Alannah Meechan, Owner and Manager of Open Hearts Homecare Ltd, with over 13 years of experience in the care sector. I’m passionate about making a real difference and driving positive change in care by delivering compassionate, person-centred support that truly improves lives. I chose the name Open Hearts because it reflects the warmth, kindness, and empathy I believe should be at the heart of every interaction—whether with those we care for, their families, or our staff. In 2023, I was honoured to be named Care and Support West Care Home Manager of the Year, a reflection of my dedication to high standards, a positive workplace culture, and strong staff support. I believe that when staff feel valued and supported, they can grow, develop, and thrive in their roles, thereby creating a strong, positive workforce. I also believe that this care and dedication will bring families closer together and make life easier, warmer, and more meaningful for those we support. My hope for Open Hearts Homecare is to continue growing as a place where care is delivered with compassion, staff feel inspired and supported, and families can trust that their loved ones are truly cared for with open hearts.
